Q: Can I be a member of the drill team as a LET 1 or first year cadet?
A: Yes, but the cadet must have completed their drill instruction phase of JROTC. Exceptions can be made if a person learns quickly.

Q: When can I sign-up for drill class?
A: A cadet may sign-up for drill class the second semester of their first year in JROTC, if they are currently on the drill team and desire to learn exhibition drill. All cadets in the drill class must have instructor permission to be in the class.

Q: Can I just participate in color guard?
A: No! The color guard comes from drill team participants. There are two types of color guard. Competition color guard, which presents routines during drill competitions and support color guard that provides color guards for school and community events.It is a distinct honor to be choosen to participate on any color guard.

Q: Where, when and how often does the drill team practice?
A: Drill team practice is broken down by Armed, Unarmed and Color guard practice. All practices begin at 6am and end at 7:30am in the high school auxiliary gym. Armed practice is held on Mondays and Wednesdays. Unarmed practice is held on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Color guard practice is on Fridays. The exception is, the week before a competition all teams practice everyday.

Q: How often are drill meets scheduled?
A: Drill meets are usually scheduled each month, depending on who conducts them. Please refer to our event schedule.

Q: Do you have to do anything special to qualify for the drill team?
A: Yes! Because the drill team is a competitive team a cadet must try out for the team. There is a special set of commands that can be obtained from any senior drill team cadet or the instructor. Each cadet is put through this routine and observed my senior drill team cadets and the instructor. Based on this evaluation decisions are made as to whether a cadet makes the team.

Q: Is there a participation fee?
A: Effective school year 2007-2008 there will be a $30.00 participation fee. This fee will go towards the purchase of shoulder cords, team pins, berets, patches and practice uniforms. Drill team members will keep these items.
